Dr. Wayne Hester grew up locally in Berrien County. An avid interest in aviation led him to pursue a degree in Aerospace Engineering from the prestigious Georgia Institute of Technology. After graduating from Georgia Tech, Dr. Hester served his country as a Flight officer in the United States Navy. His engineering background, couple with his desire to continue to help others, led him to pursue a career in Dentistry.
Dr. Hester graduated from The Medical College of Georgia with his dental degree and began practicing general dentistry in his home town of Nashville, Georgia. As he learned more about his chosen field, he found himself gravitating towards the more cosmetic aspects of his profession. His engineering background had prepared him well for the complex biomechanics associated with orthodontically moving teeth. Dr. Hester was very gratified to learn that his early passion for engineering, coupled with his love of cosmetic dentistry, was the ideal foundation for the study of Orthodontics.
With this goal in mind, Dr. Hester returned to the Medical College of Georgia for two additional years of critical specialty training in the art and science of creating beautiful, lifelong smiles. With his postdoctoral education completed, he was eager to return to South Georgia and serve the friends and neighbors in his home area. He has practiced orthodontics in Valdosta since 1988 and continues to pursue the latest educational and technological advances to allow him to serve as a premiere orthodontic provider in the area.
An avid bicyclist, Dr. Hester also loves to spend time with his wife, Janie, and his children at the family farm in Berrien County.
Dr. Hester explains his love of orthodontics: "It is a thrill to create a beautiful smile and a healthy, functional bite. The result is always improved self-esteem and confidence."
